I had expected this to be more of a guide about color, and it's not the traditional artists' book - it's for everybody, and I recommend it to anyone! Most of the information the book contains is information that is already common knowledge or can be easily found out through a quick Google search. Reacting to color can make us feel fully human.

She also writes a blog about colour for Print. I write about design and culture for magazines including Slate, The Believer and Fast Company among others. Honestly, this book could be a look at the political environment of today. That’s why ROY G. BIV offers a satisfying read cover-to-cover, but also invites readers to leapfrog across colors, so you can pursue some thematic affinity connecting, say, blue and yellow. { I thought this would be really good but I remember literally nothing I read in this book. The stories of color, the theories and facts, enough to make me sound very smart during a lunchtime conversation. Interesting. Unable to add item to List. So that order is black, white, red, green and yellow, blue, and then brown.

A quick read, the sort of thing you can put down for the slightest distraction and pick back up without losing your train of thought.

Fun and interesting in places, but it read more as a sort of grab back of facts rather than as any sort of more substantial study of color or it's role in any given time, place or culture. I felt that after a while of bopping back and forth to follow the trails, it was all pretty superficial infotainment.
